Hardbound books are going to look beautiful

The printers delivered the hardbound copies of the books a few weeks ago. There were a few unexpected issues, but I should have the hardbound version of Olly Olly Oxen Frey up for sale soon. The hardbound version of The Alabaster Hedgehog has an issue with every book in the shipment – the bindings don’t lay flat. So that book is not yet ready to go. The printer says that they will make it right, but I’m still waiting to hear how. Except for the warped covers, the print job looks great. Both books have turned out beautifully.

The covers for both books are slightly different than the paperback and kindle versions. I’m quite happy with the way the covers turned out with the spot varnish popping the illustrations and text.

The color illustrations inside Olly Olly Oxen Frey printed much darker than expected, but that’s my fault for not requesting sample prints of those pages. It is hard to predict how a particular printer will print color. I learned a bit in this process. I should have Olly Olly Oxen Frey for sale this week. Though the black and white illustrations in the paperback have their own charm, it is nice to see the map in all its color.
