Pre-Order Special Offer for A DIFFERENT KIND OF BRAVE!
Lee Wind’s new book of high stakes adventure is going to be released March 5th. I’ve pre-ordered my copy and I’m looking forward to reading it. Lee is offering special character cards in a pre-order promotion.
He writes:
I hired A DIFFERENT KIND OF BRAVE’s amazing cover designer CB Messer to create these two character cards for the main POV characters Nico and Sam. I’d call them “trading cards” but we’re giving them away in pairs (because Nico and Sam are quite the pair) and these collectables are so cool you’re not going to want to trade them…
There are three ways you can get your set of Nico and Sam character cards:
#1 – Preorder your copy of A DIFFERENT KIND OF BRAVE from my local indie bookstore, Pages: A Bookstore in California. This is also where you can order a signed and personalized copy, and they’re happy to mail it to you if you’re not local. Pages Details here.
#2 – Preorder A DIFFERENT KIND OF BRAVE from another amazing indie bookstore, High Five Books in Massachusetts. East Coast peeps and beyond: they’re also happy to mail it to you if you’re not local to them. High Five Books details here.
#3 – See me in person and I’ll give you a set! (And, if you have a copy already, I can sign and personalize your book.) I’ll be at:
SCBWI NY Winter conference – New York, NY – Feb 2024
CTA Good Teaching Conference South – Orange County, CA – Mar 2024
San Diego Writers Festival – San Diego, CA – Apr 2024
Los Angeles Times Festival of Books – Los Angeles, CA – Apr 2024
IBPA Publishing University – Denver, CO – Apr 2024
ALA Annual – San Diego, CA – Jun 2024
You can also request the book from your local library – that really does make a difference!
Thanks for being along for the adventure,
The light in me recognizes and acknowledges the light in you,
Lee”

“Thrilling. Positively thrilling.” —Kirkus Reviews
Nicolas “Nico” Hall is sixteen when he escapes from Dr. H’s religious gay reprogramming institute in California. On his own, he assumes one identity after another to avoid recapture as he flees south to Peru and then to Mexico.
Seven days older than Nico, Samuel “Sam” Jonas Solomon is a privileged Upper West Side only child who idolizes James Bond. When his heart is broken, he vows that, like Bond, he’s never going to trust in love again. Then he meets Nico, and his heart won’t listen to any logic.
Nico’s survived by living only for himself—until his love for Sam has him risking his freedom for others. And as much as Sam wants to be like 007, he discovers that James Bond is a terrible role model.
Together, Nico and Sam set out to free the other teens trapped in Dr. H’s Institute, plunging readers into perils, drama, and a long-shot chance at love. To succeed, they’ll both have to be A Different Kind of Brave.
