ChainBreaker
This is a great follow-up to TimeKeeper. The pace is relentless and the world and its rules and mythology expands. The malleability of time is handled well in this engaging novel. Much of the action takes place in India and shines light on the horrors of its colonial past. Many more characters come into play. I love the wild card character of Xavier. It does end on a cliffhanger though… just a warning. You’ll want to have book three close at hand. There is no time travel persay in this book, but it does battle with some of time travel’s challenges and for the most part succeeds in that regard.
* * *
Clock mechanic Danny Hart knows he’s being watched. But by whom, or what, remains a mystery. To make matters worse, clock towers have begun falling in India, though time hasn’t Stopped yet. He’d hoped after reuniting with his father and exploring his relationship with Colton, he’d have some time to settle into his new life. Instead, he’s asked to investigate the attacks.
After inspecting some of the fallen Indian towers, he realizes the British occupation may be sparking more than just attacks. And as Danny and Colton unravel more secrets about their past, they find themselves on a dark and dangerous path—one from which they may never return.
The Purple Fantastic Steam Meter gives this a 2… There is quite a bit of kissing, but the storytelling stays pretty PG.
