The Lusty Adventures of Theseus

This steamy adventure is quite a bit of fun. The wonderful surprise is that there is actually a well crafted story weaving together all of the sexual adventures. The author knows his mythology and has cleverly woven a fresh story without losing many of the specifics of the original myths.

This is a book that embraces the bawdiness that lingers under the surface of the old myths. I think the gods of Olympus would love these adventures. These might more closely resemble the real stories over the sanitized myths that we’ve grown up with.  Arthur Griffin also knows how long to go with a steamy scene. As sexy as they get, they always push the narrative forward and do not linger needlessly.

This book also pushed me to reexamine my rating system for steam. I initially figured this would be a 5 out of 5 steam rating due to the sheer amount of sex in its pages. And I don’t normally post books with a steam rating of 5. For me, a 5 rating means that the book is only endless sex scenes. Ann Rice’s Sleeping Beauty is a 5. Three chapters in, I found Sleeping Beauty virtually unreadable. The plot didn’t move forward. The characters were not interesting. And frankly, from my point of view… that just gets boring. For me sexiness has everything to do with context and what is emotionally going on within a scene. The Lusty Adventures of Theseus has a clear plot. It has specific characters. I found that I cared enough about the characters that I couldn’t put the book down. So I’m giving it a solid 4 on steam. If you like a sexy adventure that is sex positive and an antidote for shame, check this one out.

The myth of Theseus and the Minotaur has never been quite this steamy!

Handsome Theseus journeys to Athens to claim his birthright as heir to the throne, and along the way he meets the roguish Pirithous, who teaches him all about matters of the heart … and body. After a saucy encounter with a male nymph, they at last reach the city, and Theseus is shocked to discover his father, the king, has a tradition of sacrificing youths to the Minotaur, the monster inhabiting the island nation of Crete.

Theseus, a hero at heart, knows he must do what he can to stop this terrible practice. After he and Pirithous liberate a male slave named Iphitrion, the three set out to slay the Minotaur. Once they arrive at Crete, they learn the island nation is ruled by a mad tyrant with a fetish for orgies who immediately strips Theseus and company of their clothes.

Theseus soon discovers the king keeps a menagerie of mystical creatures hostage, and he must free them in addition to slaying the Minotaur and bringing his true love home to safety. Can Theseus successfully slay the beast, dethrone the tyrant, and save himself and his one true love?

The Purple Fantastic Steam Rating gives this a 4 out of 5. There is sexual activity that is quite specific, but it is so rooted in the forward momentum of character growth that I found it to be more beautiful than excessive. You can read more about the Steam Ratings on the About Page.
